Since leaving Downton Abbey, Dan Stevens is a busy boy!

He has tackled Broadway with The Heiress and television on The Tomorrow People.  He just wrapped production on the Adam Wingard movie The Guest and is awaiting a release date on the Liam Neeson film A Walk Among Tombstones.  You can catch him currently at the theatre in DreamWorks’ The Fifth Estate.

He even narrated Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, which was released in time for Halloween on Audible.

An audiobook of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" narrated by former "Downton Abbey" star Dan Stevens is released for Halloween.

It doesn’t stop there!  He just signed on to Tom McCarthy’s indie drama The Cobbler with Adam Sandler as well as Night at the Museum 3 where he will play Lancelot.  (He will be filming The Cobbler first before he dons his armor as Lancelot Night at the Museum 3.)

I am dizzy just thinking about it all!

Happy Birthday, Dan Stevens!

Dan Stevens, Downton Abbey

We'd marry him even if we didn't get to keep our awesome house.

It may be just a regular day to you but October 10th is Dan Stevens’ birthday!!

In case you have been living in a self-imposed bubble, Dan Stevens played Matthew Crawley on Downtown Abbey until the past season when he had an unfortunate exit to the show.  He is 31 today.

Happy Birthday, Dan!!!

Dan Stevens is looking very un-Matthew Crawley-like at The Fifth Estate screening at the 38th Toronto International Film Festival.  Since his Downton Abbey days are behind him, he has slimmed down and shunned his blonde locks – and I think I like it.

But the fandoms really collided when Benedict Cumberbatch entered the picture with Dan Stevens – Sherlockians, Trekkies and Downtonians.  Oh my!!!

CW, Dan Stevens, Downton Abbey, Tomorrow People

First he leaves Downton Abbey.  Then he takes on Broadway and a few movies.  Now, Dan Stevens is back to television.  Apparently, he likes things to come around full circle because it was just announced that Dan Stevens will join the cast of the CW’s upcoming drama The Tomorrow People.

The Tomorrow People is based on the 1973 U.K. series of the same name and is about several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution.  They possess special powers such as teleportation and telepathy and work together to defeat the forces of evil (aka the Ultra) with the help from “TIM”, a computer mentor who helps get them through sticky situations.

Dan Stevens will be lending his voice to “TIM”.

The Tomorrow People will premiere on the CW on Wednesday, October 9th at 9:00 p.m.

Dan Stevens, Downton Abbey, GQ

Matthew Crawley may have bit the dust at the end of Season Three in Downton Abbey but Dan Stevens is anything but dead.  He was just named “Most Stylish Man” at the GQ Men of the Year Awards last night.

After leaving Downton Abbey for the bright lights of Broadway and Hollywood, the 30-year-old Dan Stevens cut his blonde locks, lost a few pounds, and got a stylist to become a Hollywood heartthrob.

He may have gone Hollywood on us but he will still always be Matthew Crawley to me.

Congratulations, Dan!!

Dan Stevens has been a busy boy since his Downton Abbey character Matthew Crawley died in a tragic car crash leaving us to mourn without him last year.   He filmed The Fifth Estate this past year along with a star-studded cast, including PBS Masterpiece’s own Laura Linney.  What would the U.S. viewers do without Laura Linney introducing Downton Abbey to us on Sunday nights???

The Fifth Estate is a DreamWorks Pictures film directed by Bill Condon and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Bruhl, Anthony Mackie, David Thewlis, Alicia Vikander, Peter Capaldi, Carice van Houten, Dan Stevens, Stanley Tucci and Laura Linney.

Stevens (picture above with Peter Capaldi) will play Ian Katz who is a South-African born British journalist who was the deputy editor of The Guardian. In May 2013 it was announced that Katz was to become the new editor of the BBC Two current affairs program Newsnight.

(Dr. Who fans should be thrilled to get a sneak peek at Peter Capaldi since he was recently announced as the newest Doctor on the show.)

DreamWorks just released the official movie poster for the film which is opening on October 18, 2013.

The story begins as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his colleague Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Brühl) team up to become underground watchdogs of the privileged and powerful. On a shoestring, they create a platform that allows whistle-blowers to anonymously leak covert data, shining a light on the dark recesses of government secrets and corporate crimes. Soon, they are breaking more hard news than the world’s most legendary media organizations combined. But when Assange and Berg gain access to the biggest trove of confidential intelligence documents in U.S. history, they battle each other and a defining question of our time: what are the costs of keeping secrets in a free society-and what are the costs of exposing them?   Written by DreamWorks Pictures

Check out the trailer – sadly, Dan Stevens doesn’t appear in it.

Allen Leech, Dan Stevens, Downton Abbey, Elizabeth McGovern, Hugh Bonneville, Jessica Brown-Findlay, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery

In order to prevent another Season Three death-fest, the producers of Downton Abbey have locked in the key actors to large three-year contracts.  Woohooo!!!!!

After Dan Stevens and Jessica Brown Findlay decided not to renew their original contracts with the show and their characters had to be killed off – one on Christmas Day, no less – the show couldn’t afford another “exodus” from the key actors.  To solve that problem, it is being reported that the bigger names –  Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, and Allen Leech – on Downton Abbey have signed three-year contracts.  The Sun is reporting that some, if not all, are over £1m each.

An insider tells The Sun, “Downton’s charm is tradition so bosses were desperate to secure the show’s big names. All the major characters are now on big deals.”

That is excellent news for Downton fans everywhere!!!!  It is certainly an indication that we might get more than just a Season Five.  Wooohoooo!!!!

Dan Stevens, Downton Abbey, The Guest

Dan Stevens

Poor Matthew Crawley might have met a tragic demise at the end of Season 3 in Downton Abbey but that doesn’t mean Dan Stevens is down and out.  In fact, he is starring in Snoot Entertainment’s new film, “The Guest”.

The film is a dramatic thriller about a family who take in a houseguest who claims to have been friends with their deceased eldest son, but who in fact harbors a sinister past and violent agenda.

The New Mexico Film Office announced that production started mid-July and will continue through the end of August in Moriarty, Edgewood and Estancia.

According to the Internet Movie Database, Maika Monroe, Brendan Meyer, Brenden Wedner and Tabatha Shaun are also signed onto the film.

Downton Abbey fans in the UK (or fans from around the world if they want to go to the UK) can now see a collection of costumes worn by our beloved characters at the Nuneaton Museum through September 15th.  (For those of you who don’t know where Nuneaton is – me included – it is close to Birmingham, sort of in the center of Great Britain.  Yes, Google is my friend.)

Costumes worn on the hit TV series Downton Abbey are now on show at Nuneaton Musuem.

The collection includes a purple gown worn by Dame Maggie Smith in her role as the grumpy Dowager Countess of Grantham, while also on show are a daring “pantaloon” outfit of Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown-Findlay), the engagement frock of her sister Mary (Michelle Dockery) and an evening suit donned by Dan Stevens in his role as Matthew.

Representing the “downstairs” servants is a dress worn by Mrs Hughes the housekeeper and the uniform of Anna the maid.

Coun Ian Lloyd, portfolio holder for leisure and culture said: “We always aim to bring high quality exhibits to our museum that will be of interest to a broad range of visitors. This is certain to be one of our most popular exhibitions this year.”

Entry to the museum is free and the exhibition continues until September 15.
