The Mirror is reporting that the actress wife of Downton Abbey star David Robb, who plays doctor Richard Clarkson in the series, has been killed by a Tube train in London.
Briony McRoberts’ body was found on the tracks after taking her own life. She was 56.
She appeared in EastEnders, The Bill, Heartbeat, The Professionals and Taggart but was best known as sexy superbitch Sam Hagen in Scottish soap Take the High Road. She played the role for almost a decade before leaving in the late 1990s.
Understandable so, her husband David is distraught at her death.
A friend told the Daily Record: “He is beside himself with grief. He has lost the love of his life.”
Agent Katie Threlfall said the “well-loved” and “vibrant” actress had taken her own life, describing the death as “unbelievably shocking”.
She said: “It’s just a terrible, terrible loss of a wonderful woman. Nobody had any idea it was going to happen. Her husband is deeply shocked.
