Welsh actor Tom Cullen will be the newest heart-throb on Season 4 of Downton Abbey as he plays Lord Gillingham.  It is rumored that Lord Gillingham will be Lady Mary’s new love interest as she finishes her grieving for poor Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens).  But is Tom available off-screen as well?  Sorry Downtonians, he is taken.

Unfortunately for us, he has a girlfriend.

Tom and Tatiana Maslany have been dating since last September. The 27-year-old Canadian actress is best-known for her role on the sci-fi thriller Orphan Black.  She also appeared in the film The Vow.

The happy couple hasn’t confirmed how they met but most bets are that they met each other on the set of the epic World Without End.

Amongst all the new characters in Season 4 of Downton Abbey, there is a new valet, Mr. Green, and a new lady’s maid, Baxter.  The new cast members, Nigel Harmon and Raquel Cassidy, respectively, can be seen in costume as they posed alongside our favorite Downton servants during a photo for Scope’s Britian Cares campaign event for local care support for disabled people.

Nigel Harmon, pictured fourth from the left, can be seen enjoying himself in his new valet costume.  He is most well-known for his role as Dennis in EastEnders.

Raquel Cassidy, pictured far left, looks a little more reserved in her lady’s maid garments.  Her fans know her best from her role in Teachers as Susan Gately.

I can’t wait to see how the new servants will fit in to the hierarchy of below stairs at Downton Abbey.

Colin Firth, Death Comes To Pemberley, Matthew Goode, Matthew Rhys, P.D. James

Filming in York continues for the three-part TV mini-series adaptation of P.D. James’ Death Comes To Pemberley.  And a few of the behind the scenes shots are of Mr. Darcy!!!!  (Mr. Darcy is being played by Matthew Rhys.)  We also get a peek at the dastardly George Wickham played by Matthew Goode.

Now, as previously reported, this blogger is not quite sure Matthew Rhys is up to filling the shoes of Colin Firth in the role of Mr. Darcy.  But after seeing the pictures of Matthew fully ‘Darcyized’, my objections are less strenuous.  He has got the proud look that a Mr. Darcy should have – but is he prejudiced enough???

Downton Abbey, Ed Speelers, Kevin Doyle

Last year Downton Abbey went to Scotland.  This year it looks like Downton Abbey goes to London.

Kevin Doyle, who plays the butler Molesley,  and Ed Speelers, who plays 3rd footman Jimmy Kent, were seen filming scenes in London over the weekend.  There was no sign of the family or the other servants but it does look like there might be a party or something going on from the looks of two of the many extras.  A white tie and a tiara give it away every time.

Big city life: Downton Abbey's Ed Speelers and Kevin Doyle were seen shooting scenes for the upcoming fourth series of the ITV1 period drama in central London on Sunday
Big city life: Downton Abbey's Ed Speelers and Kevin Doyle were seen shooting scenes for the upcoming fourth series of the ITV1 period drama in central London on Sunday
Iconic: A traditional red London bus was seen on set as the cast and crew invaded the capital for the day
Change of scenery: The cast of Downton Abbey enjoyed a departure from their usual idyllic setting of Highclere Castle in Hampshire as they got to work shooting series four
Turning back time: Swapping the green fields of the fictional Downton estate in Yorkshire for the busy streets of the capital, the cast of the show could have easily stepped straight out of the 20s
Traveling in style: One of the Crawley family's numerous motors was seen whizzing around the set as members of the crew looked on
Action-packed: Serious four is due to hit screens in September and will start where series three tragically left off
Feeling warm? Two cast members would have no doubt been left feeling a little hot under the collar, wearing thick winter coats on a summer's day
Time out: Members of the Downton cast chatted as they took a water break in between takes
Success story: A huge ratings success on both sides of the Atlantic, the Downton Abbey Christmas special saw more than 11 million viewers tune in to see Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens) tragically die in a car crash
Dapper dudes: The cast looked smart in tailored overcoats and trilbies as they got to work on set in London http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2380824/Downton-Abbey-stars-Kevin-Doyle-Ed-Speelers-work-shooting-series-location-central-London.html

Death Comes to Pemberly

More behind the scenes pictures of the filming of Death Comes To Pemberly have surfaced.  This time it is the gallows scene with the specially constructed gallows – because let’s face it, gallows aren’t used that much these days.

Eliza Mellor, producer of Death Comes To Pemberley, said: “The gallows are a particularly dramatic scene from Death Comes To Pemberley, which is being made by Origin Pictures and is due to air on the BBC this Christmas.

“We filmed the scene outside York Crown Court because the surrounding buildings are perfectly in keeping with the time period. We’ve been thoroughly welcomed in York and are having a wonderful time filming in the area.”

The TV mini-series based on P.D. James’ novel of the same name is being shot in York and locations such as the Treasurer’s House, Castle Howard, Chatsworth House, and Harewood House are being used.

Downton Abbey, Jessica Fellowes, Matthew Sturgis, The Chronicles of Downton Abbey: A New Era

In the 2012 book “The Chronicles of Downton Abbey: A New Era,” authors Jessica Fellowes and Matthew Sturgis clarify that although Cora’s late father (who has been identified on the show as Isidore Levinson, a dry-goods magnate from Cincinnati, Ohio) was Jewish, her mother, Martha, was Episcopalian and raised Cora likewise.

Daisy Lewis is making a splash as she arrives at Downton Abbey.  Supposedly, her character is the new governess/nanny for Tom Branson’s Baby Sybil but that she and Tom start a dalliance that will be hot and heavy.  The blogger can hardly wait for the drama this is going to cause.  You can just tell she is going to be the naughty baby nurse.  Oh my!!!

Death Comes to Pemberly

Filming for Death Comes To Pemberley is in full swing in Yorkshire at St. William’s College and The York Press was able to catch some behind the scenes pictures when the cast was on a break.  It looks like the costuming is wonderful and the cast is enjoying themselves.

Downton Abbey Christmas Special Sneak Peek

Daisy Lewis, Downton Abbey, Paul Giamatti, Shirley MacLaine

It is time for the Americans to arrive at Downton Abbey for the filming of the Christmas Special!!!  Shirley MacLaine, who plays Cora’s American mother, and Paul Giamatti, who is making his Downton premiere as Cora’s playboy brother, join their British counterparts for some drama.

And It looks like everybody is enjoying the picnic including the newest trouble maker, the new governess, played by Daisy Lewis.  Oh my, the trouble she is going to cause!!!

On a side note:  As an American, I just can’t get used to calling this a Christmas Special.  Yes, they show it on Christmas Day but to me a Christmas Special is about Christmas and not shown just on December 25th.  I want the Christmas Special to have the tree and presents and everyone in the holiday spirit – not set in the summer and killing off people in car accidents.  Just my two cents from across the pond since it doesn’t really affect me since I won’t see it until February/March.

Fresh meat: Paul Giammati joins the cast with young British actress Daisy Lewis

High society: Shirley pops on a feathered cap as her character hosts a society picnic
Change of style: Paul usually plays bumbling characters, but as Harold, he becomes a bit of a maverick
Troublemaker: Daisy's character plays a scheming governess who is rumoured to strike up a relationship with widowed Tom Branson

TV buff: Daisy has starred in Doctor Who, Lewis and Borgia as well as indie film Pusher last year
Modern times: Sophie McShera puts on some sunglasses that certainly wouldn't have been around in her character Daisy's time
Perambulator: Two extras push some old-fashioned buggies across a field
